This dive site is on the east shore of Loch Long, adjacent to Finnart Oil Terminal, and is suitable for all grades of diver from trainee upwards. Parking is easy although access to and from the water can be tricky, so take care.
With its proximity to Glasgow and suitability for training, this site can sometimes become very busy.

Take the A82 along Loch Lomond and turn left onto the A817 signposted for Garelochhead. Follow the A817 for 8.9 miles, then at the roundabout, take the second exit and follow the A814 for 1.3 miles. At the next roundabout, take the third exit and continue following the A814 for 1.8 miles until you arrive at the A-Frames car park, at the water’s edge on your left.
A wide variety of marine life can be found here, taking advantage of the numerous different habitats that have been created by the wreckage from the demolition of the old pier that used to be here.
The relative shelter provided by the west coast sea lochs also makes this a popular training site for east coast dive instructors.
Underwater visibility can vary dramatically, even down to virtually zero on some occasions, depending upon circumstances. It might also be advisable to check on recent ship movements at the oil terminal.
